Chip and his dinosaur wander over to a fort, where they watch wooden soldiers march in formation. Chip wants to enter the fort, but the guards won't allow his dinosaur in, so the dinosaur transforms into a small ball of clay. After entering the fort, a much angrier dinosaur breaks through the brick wall and attacks the guards. Later, trying bayonets and cannon against the creature, the soldiers run for their lives. Chip's dinosaur regains his original shape, and the two dinosaurs battle it out.
I really quite enjoyed this early stop motion animation that sees “Chip” arrive at the castle on his pet dinosaur. He wants to enter but they are not allowed in, so it must morph into a plasticine ball and roll in behind him! Lucky it did, too, for no sooner have they arrived to meet the parading soldiers than another dinosaur makes short work of the walls and the cannon balls! Perhaps it’s time for our ball to re-emerge and save the day? The characters are simple but engaging, even their faces manage to include the odd smile as this short feature hit the ground running and brought a smile to my face as the activity of the characters was seamlessly presented. It’s good fun, this.
